Neil deGrasse Tyson is an American astrophysicist and author. From his extensive work with NASA, The American Museum of Natural History, Hayden Planetarium, and other organizations, Tyson has become a well-known public figure.

Tyson served on the US government’s Commission on the Future of the Aerospace Industry, and has held several department head positions at various highly regarded institutions. Tyson has spoken on several social topics, including race, social justice, and theology. Tyson has also made dozens of television appearances, most notably his hosting of 2014’s reboot of Carl Sagen’s “Cosmos” series.
