Andrew Johnson Theater is the most flexible and intimate performance space in Tennessee Performing Arts Center. Designed to encourage experimentation in theatre, music, and dance, it offers freedom in spatial arrangement for both audience and performers, including thrust, cabaret, and in-the-round seating. The Tennessee Performing Arts Center, or TPAC, is in the James K. Polk Cultural Center at 505 Deaderick Street in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, occupying an entire city block between 5th and 6th Avenues North and Deaderick and Union Streets. The cultural center adjoins the 18-story James K. Polk State Office Building.
