Meet Alison Krauss

Award-winning bluegrass-country singer Alison Krauss caught an interest in music at an early age, winning local contests in her hometown of Decatur, Illinois, by the age of ten and recording by the age of fourteen. She released her first solo album, Too Late to Cry in 1987 and was invited to join the band with which she still performs, called Alison Krauss and Union Station (AKUS), in 1989. She earned her first Grammy Award in 1991, and at the time was the second-youngest winner. Krauss has released fourteen albums and is often credited for reviving interest in bluegrass music in the United States. She especially gained prominence through her soundtracks, such as the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack and the Cold Mountain soundtrack, which led to her performance at the 2004 Academy Awards.
