The Altoona Curve

The Altoona Curve is a Minor League Baseball team member of the Eastern League and play their home games at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

The team was founded in 1998 and was originally named the Altoona Rail Kings. However, after just one season, the team changed its name to the Altoona Curve to better reflect the unique curveball-shaped railroad tracks that run through the city. Since then, the team has become a beloved part of the Altoona community.

Peoples Natural Gas Field, where the Curve play their home games, is a beautiful stadium that seats over 7,000 fans. The ballpark has been named one of the top minor league baseball stadiums in the country and features a variety of amenities, including luxury suites, a party deck, and a kids' zone.

The Curve have a few notable rivalries within the Eastern League. One of their biggest rivals is the Harrisburg Senators, a team that is located just a few hours south of Altoona. The two teams have a fierce rivalry, and their matchups are always highly anticipated by fans of both teams. The Curve also have a rivalry with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, another Eastern League team that is in Virginia.

One interesting fact about the Curve is that they have had a few players who have gone on to play in Major League Baseball. The most notable of these players is pitcher Gerrit Cole, who played for the Curve in 2012 before eventually making it to the big leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates/a>. Cole went on to sign a record-breaking contract with the New York Yankees in 2019.

Overall, the Altoona Curve are a great example of a successful minor league baseball franchise. With a beautiful stadium, a passionate fan base, and a commitment to community involvement, the Curve are a team that any sports fan can appreciate.
