Cat Power emerged in the early 1990s, bearing her inner self with emotional lyricism and performing with strength and fragility. Drawing on influences from folk, soul, and blues, she began performing with local bands in the Atlanta, GA area before ultimately becoming discovered while opening for Liz Phair in 1993. Power would release three studio albums before making her mainstream breakthrough with her critically acclaimed fourth album Moon Pix in 1998.
