David Gilmour is a classic rock musician from Cambridge, England, who rose to fame as the guitarist and one of the lead vocalists for the legendary progressive rockers Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd is one of the most successful, influential bands of all time, having sold more than 250 million albums worldwide and having received multiple, honorable awards. The group, headed by Roger Waters, put out a number of conceptual albums such as ‘The Wall’ and ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’, which were story driven and intended to be listened to straight through.
Gilmour kept the band going through the 1980’s and 1990’s, and eventually went on to pursue his solo career. He has collaborated with many other famous musicians, and continues to maintain his iconic status and to tour all across the world.
