Lynyrd Skynyrd is a southern rock band based out of Jacksonville, Florida, formed in 1964. By 1970, the group moved towards the culmination of southern rock with a blues and hard rock twist. In the 1970’s, the band released their most popular albums featuring the iconic songs ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ and ‘Free Bird’, casting the name Lynyrd Skynyrd and their popularity far beyond their highest expectations.
Lynyrd Skynyrd was rapidly on the rise, well on the road to massive success, performing to sellout crowds throughout US. Unfortunately, in 1977 a devastating plane crash took the lives of three of the band members. The surviving members took a hiatus for ten years, but eventually reconnected with the addition of several new members and set forth on a Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute tour.
In 2018 Lynyrd Skynyrd announced the band’s farewell tour set to take place in the summer. The three-month tour, dubbed “The Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour,” will feature several special guests including Kid Rock and Bad Company. In honor of their final tour, the band plans to release a single called “The Last of the Street Survivors.”
