Guitar virtuoso Martin Barre is best known as the lead guitarist for veteran progressive rock group Jethro Tull. Barre recorded and toured with the band from their second album Stand Up in 1969 until their initial dissolution in 2012. While still an active member of the group, he launched a solo career in the early ‘90s that would go on to produce four studio albums and several musical collaborations. Barre has said that he tries not to listen to other guitarists and has never taken lessons to avoid falling under other’s musical influences. His playing style has been described as “tricky” and “complicated” thanks to his skill in composing melodies as opposed to simply playing solos.
