Straight No Chaser is an acappela group from Bloomington, Indiana. The ten piece vocal harmony group was formed at Indiana University, which is well known for having a highly esteemed music program. The group covers a wide range of vocal ability, ranging from low bass tones to high male tenor parts. The group is one of the most successful acappela groups of all time, supporting a non-traditional popular genre on a mainstream level.
The group sang professionally for twelve years at a somewhat sustainable level of success, but it was not until 2006 that they were able to achieve mainstream success with the help of YouTube. An old video of the group singing ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’ became widely viewed, and landed them a deal with major record company Atlantic. Since then, the group has been performing for a large fan base and touring all across the United States.
