The epic comedic rock duo Tenacious D, composed of Jack Black and Kyle Gass, are breaking their five-year hiatus with a full-length tour starting fall 2018!
Jack Black and Kyle Gass initially met in Los Angeles in 1985 as members of a theatre troupe and became best friends. Tenacious D recorded their songs "Tribute", "Kyle Quit the Band", "Krishna" and "History" and released them in a demo tape called Tenacious Demo in the mid-1990s. In 2000, they signed to Epic Records and released their self-titled debut album that same year, featuring Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters on drums. The album yielded the hit single “Tribute,” which achieved cult-status and made Tenacious D popular overseas. In 2003, the band released their first concert DVD - The Complete Master Works, which achieved gold and platinum status. In 2006, they starred in, and recorded the soundtrack for, the film Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny. Their third album, Rize of the Fenix, was released in 2012 and made jokes regarding The Pick of Destiny's failure - with the duo describing Rize of the Fenix as a "comeback record."
