The National is a rock band from Cincinnati who kickstarted their career with the release of their self-titled debut album in 2001. Although the album garnered positive reviews, it wasn’t until the group’s third album, Alligator, that they increased their exposure. The album was met with critical acclaim, many publications awarding it the title of “Album of the Year” and ranking it as a top album. In the years that followed, the band continued to make music and perform, selling out shows and playing at several festivals. Their most recent album, Sleep Well Beast, was followed by a worldwide tour in 2017. The single “The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness” became the band’s first song to reach number one on the Billboard chart. In addition, the album was nominated for two Grammy Awards.
