What to Expect When Going to Cirque Du Soleil
So, it's your first trip to Vegas. Or Los Angeles. Or maybe even Orlando. You're looking to go out, see a live show perhaps, and live a little. Your attention is captured by gravity-defying acrobatics and dazzling theatrics that can only be found at Cirque Du Soleil - the largest contemporary circus in the world. But what should you expect before entering such a spectacular event? We've broken down some tips and tricks to help you know before you go!
How long does a Cirque Du Soleil show last?
Approximately 90 minutes, though some can last as little as 75 minutes to upwards of 135 minutes. As with any show or important event, you'll want to take into account traffic or weather conditions, and the length of the event, amongst other factors, when arriving at and leaving said event.
Also, take into account if you plan on eating out before or after the show. Certain locations, like the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, have restaurants available at the venue, while others may not.
What is Cirque Du Soleil?
Cirque is a Canadian entertainment company that performs circus arts across the globe. Whether you're interested in incredible feats of acrobatics, or incredible designs and theatrical fashions, there's bound to be a show for you.
What different Cirque du Soleil shows are there?
Currently, there are 21 shows running across the world, both on tour and in select cities. This includes classic Cirque shows that have been running for years, such as Alegria (since April 1994) and O (Since October 1998), up to more modern performances such as Drawn To Life (since November 2021), Mad Apple (Since May 2022), and Echo (Set to premiere in April 2023).
What do I wear to a Cirque du Soleil show?
There is no official dress code requirement for shows such as "O", so you will find people in anything from the most casual of jeans to full suits and formal dresses. You'll want to, of course, be comfortable sitting in what you're wearing for lengths at a time. Alongside that, make sure you dress according to the weather conditions of the city you're seeing the show in, or to the venue's AC system.
Can I have my phone out at a Cirque Du Soleil show?
While it's always nice to have memories of special events like a live performance, keep in mind some Cirque Shows do not allow photography or video during the show. Make sure to limit cell phone usage when at the show, or use it during dedicated intermissions (if the show has one).
Last, but certainly not least, have fun! Spend your time in awe of the acrobatics and costumes! Or wishing you could attempt some of the flips and twirls they're attempting.
