Thanks to an ankle injury in her teen years, Williams shifted her goals from a future in athletics to focusing on her passion for music. She blames an “existential crisis” at age 16 for her unique creativity and sharp sense of humor. Williams has released 20 albums over the course of her career. She is a frequent performer at folk festivals across the country and has toured with several artists including Mary Chapin Carter, Ani DiFranco, and Patty Griffin. Many have compared her style to that of Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez.
