Rapper Lupe Fiasco was raised in Chicago, where he developed an interest in hip hop and began recording songs in his father’s basement. He released his debut album, Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor in 2006, which catapulted him to fame with three Grammy Award nominations. His second album, Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool, came out the following year and spawned the hit single “Superstar,” which became his first top 40 hit. He continued his successful streak with Lasers in 2011, which was his first album to debut at number one on the Billboard 200. Lupe Fiasco is also the front man of the rock band Japanese Cartoon under his real name, Wasalu Muhammad Jaco.
