Meet Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus

The Ringling Brothers Circus is a cultural icon in America and has been since 1884. Formed by none other than the Ringling Brothers themselves, the circus, also deemed ‘The Greatest Show on Earth, has revolutionized entertainment in America. The act is full of performances and spectacles, including juggling, tight rope walking, and acrobatics, to name a few. Early renditions of the show were made famous by certain spectacles of nature, including General Tom Thumb, the world’s smallest man.

During the course of the first 20 years, there was competition from other circus production companies such as Barnum and Bailey Circus and the John Robinson Circus. By 1907, the Ringling Brothers had bought Barnum and Bailey’s Circus production company, making the circus known as it is today as Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus. It has single handedly dominated the industry and continues to do so, renowned and recognized worldwide.
