Ozuna Announces Dates for Third U.S. Tour of 2018
Ozuna is showing no signs of slowing down, announcing yet another tour for 2018. "The Aura Tour" kicks off on October 7 in Atlanta and will take the Puerto Rican singer to 29 cities across the U.S. including New York, Orlando, Chicago and Los Angeles.
"Aura 2018" is the third U.S. tour Ozuna will embark on this year. He is currently touring in support of his debut album Odisea, which dropped in August 2017. Odisea debuted at the number one spot on the Top Latin Albums Chart and earned the reggaetón singer 13 entries on the Hot Latin Songs chart in October.
"The Aura Tour" will promote his forthcoming album of the same name and promises “many surprises” for fans.
“Odisea was an album with more history,” he says. “Now, we come with hits, as I like to say. Many surprises, different producers from different nations. An album completely enjoyable from [tracks] 1-16, and I know you will like it.”
"Aura 2018" is set to conclude December 15 with a show at the Greensboro Coliseum, however Ozuna has hinted there may be more dates added to the line-up soon.
Who Is Ozuna?
Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His family was very poor throughout his upbringing, and it was not until he attended college in New York City that he found inspiration to pursue a career in music.
Ozuna made his singing debut in 2012 under the stage name J Oz. He signed a recording contract in 2014 and continued to upload his music to YouTube. His song “Si No Te Quiere” became a hit and received major airplay on radio stations across Latin America.
Ozuna went on to collaborate with several well-known Latin artists throughout 2015 and 2016, gaining widespread popularity for his appearance in the De La Ghetto single "La Ocasión", which reached number 22 on the Hot Latin Songs chart. He continued to work with popular musicians including Daddy Yankee, Arcángel, and Farruko, churning out chart-topping singles until the release of his debut studio album Odisea in 2017.
Odisea contained several viral hit songs and became an instant success. Its release has led many prominent figures in the genre to consider Ozuna one of the best new generation reggaetón and Latin Trap artists.
Ozuna announced last year that he would be releasing a second album, Aura, in 2018. “La Modelo,” featuring rapper Cardi B, was the lead single released from the upcoming album and debuted at number 52 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Ozuna is part of the latest wave of urban singers to emerge from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. While many of his songs cover explicit topics, he has avoided lyrics that objectify women out of respect for his wife and young daughter. He is one of only a few artists in his genre to do so.
