Sum 41 Announce Break Up
Sum 41 are calling it quits.
After nearly 30 years together, the Canadian rock band announced they'll be disbanding following the release of their upcoming album and a farewell tour (dates TBD).
"Being in Sum 41 since 1996 brought us some of the best moments of our lives. We are forever grateful to our fans both old and new, who have supported us in every way. It is hard to articulate the love and respect we have for all of you and we wanted you to hear this from us first," the band's statement reads.
"Sum 41 will be disbanding. We will still be finishing all of our current upcoming tour dates this year, and we're looking forward to releasing our final album 'Heaven :x: Hell,' along with a final worldwide headlining tour to celebrate. Details will be announced as soon as we have them."
The band announced their decision ahead of their previously announced outing alongside The Offspring and Simple Plan on the Let The Bad Times Roll Tour, which kicks off August 1 in Auburn, WA.
Sum 41 skyrocketed to fane in 2001 with the release of their punk-rap single "Fat Lip." The track dominated radio airwaves and took the number one spot on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart. Since making their mainstream breakthrough, the band has gone on to release seven studio albums, including the most recent Order in Decline, which dropped in 2019.
