Meet Brit Floyd

Brit Floyd is a Pink Floyd tribute band formed by musical director, guitarist, and singer Damian Darlington in Liverpool, the United Kingdom in 2011. After playing with The Australian Pink Floyd Show for nearly two decades, Darlington was inspired to start his own tribute group, "simply because he felt he could do it one better" than his previous band.

Darlington’s passion for Pink Floyd’s music began after hearing The Wall when he was 13 years old. “I remember ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ being number one in the UK. It was December 1979. Probably my first memory of Pink Floyd,” he shared.

“Then I actually heard The Wall album in its entirety and that's what particularly drew me to Pink Floyd about the age of 12 or 13. I was fascinated by the record that told a story, and all these sound effects linking songs together, and also the wonderful guitar work. I was already learning to play guitar and I wanted to learn to play some of these wonderful guitar solos. That was my introduction to Pink Floyd. I was a fan from quite an early age."

Over the years, Darlington went on to play in a number of bands, covering a wide range of genres including Western, Country, and Jazz. He linked up with The Australian Pink Floyd Show in 1994, performing and embarking on world tours with them until 2011, when he decided it was time to part ways.

“I felt it was time to do it in a different way with a different group of musicians — to strike out on my own, I’ve had a lot of experience and have learned how to do this correctly,” he said. According to Darlington, one of the things that set Brit Floyd apart from other Pink Floyd tribute groups is their great attention to detail.

"There is much more attention to details in every aspect of the show, from the music to the visuals to the lighting: everything is that much more perfected and there's a passion coming off that stage,” Darlington said.

“If you’ve seen the Australian show, you’ll notice a difference in a big way — a difference for the better, we make the extra effort to re-create as much as we can and it’s not just the songs: It’s the visuals, as well. It's a coherent, emotional journey through Pink Floyd's catalog."

Since 2011, Darlington and Brit Floyd have toured extensively, establishing themselves as “The World’s Greatest Pink Floyd Tribute Show.” Several guest musicians have joined the band on stage over the years, including artists from Pink Floyd’s studio and touring band line-ups.

In 2013, Pink Floyd vocalist and bass player Guy Pratt joined Brit Floyd on stage. Two years later, in 2015, saxophonist and rhythm guitarist Scott Page joined them onstage to perform “Money” and “Us and Them.”

Brit Floyd have performed over 1,000 shows since its launch in 2011. The band has circled the globe on sell-out tours across North America, South America, Europe, and the Middle East, playing at some of the greatest venues in the world like London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall, and the breathtaking Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver, Colorado.

The Brit Floyd show has been widely regarded as the world’s greatest rock tribute show. No Brit Floyd tour is complete without a stunning, multi-million-dollar light show, iconic circle screen, lasers, inflatables, and theatrics.

About Pink Floyd: English rock group Pink Floyd formed in London in 1965, initially gaining a following as a psychedelic rock group. The band was founded by students Syd Barrett (guitar, lead vocals), Nick Mason (drums), Roger Waters (bass, guitar, vocals), and Richard Wright (keyboard, vocals).

Waters became the primary lyricist and thematic leader following Barrett's departure in 1968. They were distinguished for their extended compositions, experimentations, philosophical lyrics, and elaborate live shows, establishing themselves as a leading band in the progressive rock world. Pink Floyd were one of the first British psychedelia groups, and are credited with influencing a number of genres, including progressive rock and ambient music.

Throughout their time together, Pink Floyd released a total of 15 albums, four of which topped the US or UK record charts including The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, The Wall, and The Final Cut (The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall are both considered to be among the best-selling albums of all time).

Pink Floyd was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996, and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005. They have sold more than 250 million records worldwide and are one of the most commercially successful and influential bands in popular music history.
