From Chicago, IL comes rock band Disturbed. Formed in 1994, Disturbed was established by front man David Drainmen who grew up a rebel against his religious family. The thrashing sound of the band became an outlet for his anger and resentment, and he recruited Dan Donegan, Mike Wengren, and John “Fuzz” Moyer to form the lineup as we know it today. After establishing a loyal fanbase in the greater Chicago area, the group went on to record a demo tape and ultimately their debut album. The Sickness dropped in 2000 and gained widespread exposure, vastly expanding their fanbase. They have since released five additional albums, all of which have consecutively debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard 200. Disturbed’s sound has been classified as heavy metal, hard rock, and alternative rock. The band cites acts such as Black Sabbath, Pantera, Judas Priest, Metallica, and Led Zeppelin as influences on their style and sound.
