CAKE is an American rock band that formed in 1991 in California, with a current lineup that consists of singer John McCrea, trumpeter Vince DiFiore, guitarist Xan McCurdy, bassist Daniel McCallum, and drummer Todd Roper. They self-released their debut album, Motorcade of Generosity, in 1995, which yielded their first hit "Rock 'n' Roll Lifestyle." Their third album, Prolonging the Magic, went platinum in 1998, and the next album hit number seven on the Modern Rock Tacks chart. CAKE's most recent album was 2011's Showroom of Compassion, their first to debut at the top of the Billboard charts. The band is known for their sarcastic lyrics, monotone vocals, and eclectic range of musical influences from country to Mariachi to hip hop.
