The Cape Catfish is part of the Prospect League, an independent Minor League Baseball comprising teams of eligible NCAA college players from North America and beyond.
The Cape Catfish are a Prospect League baseball team based in Cape Girardeau, MO. The team was founded in 2019 and played their first season in 2020. The Catfish play in 2,000 seat Capaha Field that underwent a $1.8 million renovation prior to the beginning of the team's first season. The stadium now has new synthetic turf, a new scoreboard equipped with a video board, new outfield fence, new bullpens, as well as other cosmetic upgrades including new paint and fencing all around the field.
In the team's inaugural season, they won both the division and league game, finishing with an impressive record of 43-17 and a 1-1 post season record. In 2021, Catfish continued to claim 1st place within the division and 2nd in the league with a 38-22 record.
