H.E.R. (Having Everything Revealed) anonymously emerged onto the music scene in 2016 with her debut EP, H.E.R. Vol. 1. Thanks to a killer cover of Drake’s “Jungle” and some help from label mates Alicia Keys and Bryson Tiller, the seven-track EP made its way to the number 28 spot on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart and made iTunes’ Best of 2016 R&B/Soul Albums list. H.E.R. Vol 2 followed in June 2017, debuting at the number 22 spot. The singer went on to merge the two EPs, creating her debut full-length album, H.E.R later the same year. The young star has been turning heads since her debut release, steadily climbing to the top of her genre and making a name for herself, even performing live with established artists such as Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Khalid and Kid Cudi.
H.E.R. was included in Rolling Stone’s “10 Artists You Need To Know” 2017 roundup and was named one of Forbes “5 Alternative R&B Artists To Look Out For In 2017.” Despite her rising success, H.E.R. has remained anonymous.
“The mystery is a metaphor for who I am, or who I was at the time of creating the project,” she explained in an interview. “I feel like oftentimes we don’t like to be open as people about our emotions or things that we are going through. At the time [of recording], I was very closed off except for when I was writing or when I was in the studio. I am a voice for women who feel like they're alone in these situations. This project came from an emotion, and that's what I want it to be about – not what I look like or who I'm with, but the raw emotion and support for women."
