Persian classic musician and crossover vocalist Homayoun Shajarian began studying music as a young child, learning to play the tombak (a Persian hand drum) under the supervision of Masser Farhangfar, tombak master. Shajarian simultaneously mastered traditional vocal Avaz at the age of just ten years old, singing with his family and perfecting his musical abilities before beginning playing to live audiences. Shajaraian gained exposure by accompanying his father on world tours as part of the Ava Music ensemble, singing and playing the tombak.
