Sam Beam is a singer-songwriter known professionally by his stage name Iron & Wine. Beam had begun to write songs during his time as a film and cinematography professor at the University of Miami and Miami International University of Art & Design. After seven years of writing songs behind the scenes of his career, he began making demos and was discovered shortly thereafter. Iron & Wine has gone on to release six full-length studio albums and several singles and EPs. The 2004 album Our Endless Numbered Days marked his breakthrough into the indie pop scene, with songs from the record appearing in television commercials and movie soundtracks. As time went on, his musical style changed direction moving more toward a pop style sound and away from his acoustic roots. Iron & Wine’s latest project, 2017’s Beast Epic, saw the artist returning to the simple and melodic structures that were commonly found in his earlier albums.
