KRS-One is a rapper and record producer who rose to prominence as part of the hip-hop music group Boogie Down Productions, which he formed alongside DJ Scott La Rock in the mid-1980s. He is best known for his early top hit singles like "Sound of da Police," "Love's Gonna Get'cha (material love)" and "My Philosophy." The music group earned several prestigious awards and critical acclaim in their early years. Following the released of their debut album Criminal Minded, Scott La Rock was killed, but KRS-One continued to lead the group effectively as a solo project. He began releasing music under his name in 1993, releasing a total of 14 solo albums throughout his career.
