Globally known as the New York Philharmonic Orchestra (NYPO), this symphony orchestra is based in New York City, performing at the David Geffen Hall in the Lincoln Center. Founded in 1842, it is the oldest of a group of leading American orchestras commonly known as the “Big Five.” The group has won several Grammy awards throughout its history, including five Best Classical Album awards, four Best Orchestral Performance awards, and three Best Album for Children awards.
