Versatile musician and talented songwriter PJ Morton has been involved in the contemporary gospel, contemporary rock, and R&B scene since the early 2000s. The son of fellow recording artist Bishop Paul S Morton, PJ comes a musical background. He released several genre crossing independent albums throughout the early 2000s while simultaneously collaborating with artists that include Anthony David, Faith Evans, Monica and Kierra “KiKi” Sheard. In 2012, Morton joined pop/rock superstars Maroon 5 as the band’s keyboardist and background vocalist. The new act didn’t slow down his solo career though, as he continued to work on his next release. His fourth full length album, New Orleans, dropped in May 2013 and featured guest appearances from artists like Stevie Wonder, Busta Rhymes, and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine. The album’s single, “Only One,” earned Morton a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song. Morton’s fifth album and latest project, Gumbo, was released in 2017. The album earned him two more Grammy nominations for Best R&B Album and Best R&B Song.
