Queens of the Stone Age is an American rock band that was formed in 1996 in Palm Desert, California by Josh Homme after the dissolution of his previous band, Kyuss. Queens of the Stone Age is characterized by riff-oriented heavy rock music. They have worked with ZZ Top member Billy Gibbons, Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, and alternative rock musician Mark Lanegan. In 2003, they won Best Live Act at the Q Awards. Their new album, Villains, was released on August 25, 2017. Their Villains World Tour continues through 2018.
