Royal Blood is an English rock duo that formed in 2013. The group, consisting of musicians Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher, began playing mostly open-mic nights with acoustic singer-songwriters, as they were unable to book their own gigs for months. They developed their own music and were subsequently signed by the same company as the majorly-successful band, Arctic Monkeys.
Royal Blood’s relationship with the Arctic Monkeys proved to be a key part of their growing popularity, and they went on to open for them during a handful of shows throughout 2014. Their debut album, Royal Blood, was released in August 2014 and received critical acclaim. Their second album, How Did We Get So Dark?, followed in June 2017 and debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart.
