Rapper and singer/songwriter Smino rose to fame on the strength of his unique sound that blends hip-hop, funk, and soul. Smino was raised in St. Louis, MO by a musical family who introduced him to gospel, blues, and jazz music, setting the foundation for his interest in creating beats and melodies. As he grew older, the rising musician began to combine those early influences with more contemporary artists like Kanye West and Dungeon Family, creating a unique sound that was distinctly his own. Smino released his debut mixtape Smeezy Dot Com in 2012, followed by two EPs in 2015 (S!Ck S!Ck S!Ck and blkjuptr). His debut album, blkswn, was released to critical acclaim in March 2017. NØIR, his sophomore album, followed in November 2018.
