The Head and the Heart is an American indie-folk rock band hailing from Seattle, Washington. They formed through a series of open mic nights at a local pub, joining forces to create a self-titled EP in 2009. Self-burned copies of The Head and the Heart were distributed in denim sleeves first at their shows, and then in local record stores, with the stores unable to keep them in stock due to high demand. The band gained major popularity and vastly expanded their fanbase within a few weeks, with a host of record labels offering to sign them. They signed in November 2010, going on to drop a remastered version of their debut album. In the years since, The Head and the Heart has released two more studio albums and has gone on to tour both North America and Europe.
