Umphrey's McGee is a band formed in South Bend, Indiana at the University of Notre Dame. The musical style of the group isn’t easily identifiable, as they draw from a number of different influences. Their sound combines the backbone idea of improvisation and drawn out instrumental sessions made popular by band such as Phish, with a more progressive rock style of music indicative of the progressive rock scene of the early 60’s and late 70’s. Umphrey’s McGee is distinctively unique and exciting each time they perform.
