Pioneers of the nu metal genre, Korn first stepped into the spotlight in 1993, becoming one of the most provocative and popular bands of the late 1990s. The group released their self-titled debut in 1994, followed by their sophomore album Life is Peachy in 1996, however it was their third album that would bring them their mainstream breakthrough. Follow the Leader arrived in 1998, peaking at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 and eventually earning a five-time platinum certification on the strength of hit singles “Got the Life” and “Freak on a Leash.” The group’s commercial success continued with the release of subsequent albums Issues (1999), Untouchables (2000), Take a Look in the Mirror (2003), and See You on the Other Side (2005). Korn has earned two Grammy Awards and sold over 35 million albums worldwide, with twelve of their official releases peaking in the top ten of the Billboard 200. They have earned several platinum and multi-platinum certifications, ushering the nu/alt metal genres to the forefront of mainstream music at the height of their career.
