Ready to dive into the world of Billy Joel?

Born in the Bronx, the Piano Man’s journey from a regular New York kid to a global superstar is like a roller coaster with a killer soundtrack.

When you’re getting Billy Joel concert tickets, you just know you’re about to stroll down memory lane.

When Billy takes the stage, there are no flashy pyrotechnics or over-the-top theatrics. Piano at center stage, he dives into his extensive catalog, weaving between hits and lesser-known treasures. The crowd, predictably, sways and sings along, especially when the universally recognized opening chords of those all-time songs like "Uptown Girl" or "We Didn't Start the Fire" begin.

Billy’s interactions are typically casual and lighthearted, as he shares anecdotes or jokes between songs, and the experience is akin to spending a cozy evening with an old friend. By the time the last note fades and the lights come up, attendees leave with a renewed appreciation for Joel's artistry, having been reminded of the simple joy of timeless music in a live setting.

The Love Affair Between Billy Joel and Madison Square Garden

Peanut butter and jelly, macaroni and cheese, or Billy Joel and Madison Square Garden; name a more iconic duo! The Piano Man is a native New Yorker, and he’s made no secret of his undying love for the Big Apple, and specifically the Garden: no stage has seen Billy Joel more often than the Manhattan staple.

Billy Joel played his first show at the Garden on December 14, 1978 headlining three shows in support of his first No. 1 album, “52nd Street.”

Little did anyone know that 149 more were to come!

In 2006, decades into his fame, Joel sold out 12 dates at Madison Square Garden. It was an unprecedented record for the World's Most Famous Arena; New Jersey legend Bruce Springsteen held the previous record, with ten sold-out shows. The Garden honored Joel by giving him a spot among its legends: the venue added a retired jersey with his name, number 12. It was the arena’s first non-athlete retired number.

A Residency for the History Books

In December 2013, Madison Square Garden named Billy Joel its first-ever music franchise. This meant that Joel would join the ranks of the New York Knicks, the New York Rangers, and St. John’s Red Storm as one of the venue's most iconic acts.

Joel kicked off his residency on January 27, 2014, with a promise to perform one show per month at The Garden for as long as there was demand. He has since become the all-time leader in total shows played at the venue: as of September 2023, Billy Joel has played Madison Square Garden a total of 140 times! When he wraps up his final show of the long-running residency, he will have played 150 shows at MSG.

In the summer of 2023, Joel announced that his decade-long residency at the World's Most Famous Arena would end in July 2024, when he will reach an astounding number: 150 shows played at the venue throughout his career. The October 20 date kickstarts the final ten concerts of his residency — the clock is ticking, so get your tickets at Event Tickets Center!

Three shows were canceled and rescheduled because of an illness within Stevei’s band. The shows rescheduled include stops in Sacramento, San Francisco, and Arlington.

The tour will continue until November 10, 2023, with stops in Texas, Tennessee, Ohio, Missouri, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Minnesota. The Arlington show is scheduled for March 9, 2024, San Francisco will be on Dec. 12, 2023 and Sacramento on Dec. 15, 2023.
