The Avett Brothers are a folk rock/pop band from North Carolina. Brothers Seth and Scott Avett founded the band and have been playing together from a very young age. The Avett Brothers achieved minor success in their earlier years as a duo, with Scott primarily on the banjo and Seth on the acoustic guitar. It wasn’t until their breakthrough album Emotionalism that they really made a splash on the mainstream music circuit. The group incorporated a stand-up bass, and eventually a violin, cello, and drums into their act, filling out their sound to become a more dynamic group. The Avett Brothers play with a passion and energy for life and for music that is truly touching and compelling.
